If you are a CMC fan and also a fan of Porsche, chances are that you've seen the Porsche 901 made by CMC in a scale 1/18.

Not only is this model extremely well made, but it's also becoming more and more sought after on the secondhand market ever since CMC stopped producing them years ago. CMC made this model in five different colors: Champagne Yellow, Irish Green, Sky Blue, Bali Blue and Ivory White, with the two formers being the rarest colors of this exquisite Porsche miniature model.

This diecast car is made from 971 (!) parts, many being metal which gives this model a very solid and heavy feel unless many composite models are made by other manufacturers. A cool detail that many don't know is that even the front and rear bumper is made from metal, it really highlights the extreme length CMC went to produce this masterpiece. Another of our favorite details on these cars is the ability to open the fuel cap. Each model also comes with removable hub caps that are magnetic, once you remove these, you can unscrew the screws and take off the wheels from the car.

When these Porsche 901 were produced by CMC, they were retailing between $250 to $300. Today, it's hard to find a good example for under $750, the demand is clearly there for these, but the sellers are not selling. Recently, a Bali Blue 901 sold for over $1,400. Both the Bali Blue and Ivory White Porsche 901's are the rarest as these were originally produced for Porsche dealerships and in much smaller quantities than the other colors offered by CMC.

The CMC Ferrari 250 GTO is a stunning 1:18 diecast car by CMC and is one for your diecast car collection. If you're a Ferrari lover, the 1962 CMC 250 GTO would likely be the first car that comes to mind when you hear the word, “Ferrari.”

GTO's story started in 1961 when Enzo Ferrari was worried about the imminent introduction of Jaguar’s sleek new E-Type, which posed a threat to Ferrari. So, he commissioned Giotto Bizzarrini to design a new GT-class car based on the 250 SWB Competizione’s chassis and using its solid V12.

He intended for this one to have thin aluminum body panels, a new rear axle, larger valves, and create about 300 horsepower using a 5-speed gearbox. Eventually, the car proved successful as the top speed was 170 mph with a 5.0-second 0-to-60 mph mark.

GT racers Phil Hill and Oliver Gendebien finished first at Sebring and second overall in the car’s first race, respectively. From then on, Ferrari won the overall GT manufacturer’s title in 1962, 1963, and 1964 consecutively. A total of 39 Ferraris were built, including three equipped with a 4-liter engine.

Let's look at the features and see why you should just add them to your collection.

Diecast cars are a top-notch collection, and the Ferrari 275 GTB/C with a 1:18 scale by CMC Classic Model Cars is no different. In 1966, Ferrari launched the A series II version of the 275 GTB at Maranello, which Mauro Foghieri had designed as a dual-purpose race car. Twelve of them were constructed with either a two-cam or four-cam engine.

It was known as 275 GTB/C, with C being an acronym for “Competizione.” The likes of CMC Ferrari models have made a great impression since they were used by NART to race, with starting number #26 in Le Mans 1966 and with Biscaldi and de Bourbon at the wheel.

A glance at the Ferrari model gives you a glimpse of a solid design scaled to perfection and attention to detail. So let’s check out the features and see why you should just add them to your collection.

Stunning Composite Body Highlights CMC’s Eye For Detailing in Exterior

The CMC Ferrari 275 GTB/C by Auto Art has an impeccable composite body in the 1:18 scale it comes in. Its exteriors also highlight CMC's impressive performance, with features like:

  • A hand-assembled metal precision model consisting of 781 parts.
  • An aluminum body covered by 0.028-inch ultra-thin panels, half as thick as the ones used on the 275 GTB, and mounted on a super-lightweight chassis.
  • An Authentic and true-to-scale-shaped body.
  • Functional doors with movable triangular windows.
  • “7×15” in the front and “7.5×15” in the rear end to allow clearance for racing tires.

The CMC Ferrari 275 GTB/C comes in various colors, including red and Verde Pino metallic.

What It’s Like Under the Hood and Inside the Interior

Moving to the CMC Ferrari 275 GTB/C's interior, you will find a hinged bonnet with a self-locking holder and a twelve-cylinder V-engine with a displacement of 3,286 cc and 3 Weber 40 DF13 carburetors under the hood. There is no cooling fan; natural air intake and a water radiator planted behind the oil radiator cool the engine under endurance racing conditions.

Opening the car door, you will see leather-padded bucket seats, an authentically reproduced Nardi 3-spoke steering wheel in a wood look, and a well-integrated dashboard with all-around instruments and controls.

A further look reveals the race-like design equipment, such as roll bars and seat belts, with the rest of the interior covered in fine leather. While eight of the twelve GTB/Cs feature a left-hand drive, chassis 9085 and 9067 are designed with alloy-cast wheels.

The 275 GTB/C has become a much sought-after prize possession for Ferrari lovers, and owning one of these CMC vehicles is worth every penny. Since it has maintained an all-time high race record over the years, the 275 GTB/C will be remembered and honored as one of Ferrari’s last true dual-purpose race cars.
